Convergence

A Creative Collective of Faith

A living, creative process.

At Convergence, we embrace faith as a communal journey, where spiritual growth and artistic expression intertwine. We do this in three major ways — soul|makers, Creative Prayer and Spiritual Collectives.

Convergence is practicing the presence of God in everyday life.

Creative Prayer is a time of soaking in the words of the Bible and then creatively processing and responding. We practice bringing prayer into our creative lives and creativity into our prayer lives. Join us on Sundays at 5 PM EST | 4 PM CST | 2 PM PST.

Convergence is listening for God in everyday life.

Spiritual Collectives are small, intentional gatherings where you can cultivate Holy Listening—the practice of hearing God’s voice in scripture, daily life, and community. Through this rhythm, we seek peace, purpose, and a deeper connection with both God and others.

Convergence connects and educates artists of faith through soul|makers.

soul|makers is a movement of prophetic critics and imaginative visionaries to re-enchant the world through powerful, life changing stories.

Convergence provides resources for churches, ministries, & artists of faith on the ancient path.

Convergence offers resources for worship, devotion, and discipleship, shaped by 19 years at Convergence, where engaging in art-making has reimagined church and taught us to see, hear, and live according to God’s purposes, and we hope these resources inspire your own creative journey. Convergence is a creative collective of faith.

Convergence is calling people to engage in art-making as a means of creative and spiritual wholeness because our souls need nourishment, our imaginations need to be re-awakened, and our passions need to be ignited in order to live fully into the beings we were created to be.

  • Convergence is a communal, creative process rather than a static institution. Just as an artist collective values collaboration, discovery, and transformation, we embrace the spiritual process as our shared work of art.

At Convergence, this spiritual process merges with artistic practice, flowing outward to love and serve the world through our vocations and our soul|makers outreach. We believe God created us to make—to be joyful co-creators, embodying Jesus’ prayer: “May God’s kingdom come; may God’s will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”

  • Convergence was founded in Alexandria, Virginia as an experiment in 2007 with a bold question: What if church and the arts could truly connect? We believe that culture is something we are called to create, shaping the world in the image of the Creator. Over the years, Convergence has become a space where faith and creativity meet, forming a vibrant community of artists, makers, and seekers committed to whole-life worship and cultural renewal.

Our journey began when Rev. Lisa Cole Smith, an artist and seminary student, saw a disconnect between churches and the arts. Many churches longed to integrate creativity into worship but lacked the tools, while artists often struggled to connect their spiritual and artistic lives. Convergence was founded to bridge this gap, fostering a community where artists and faith leaders grow together, explore spiritual imagination, and embrace their God-given calling.

Today, Convergence continues as a creative collective—people committed to living out the way of Jesus through worship, artistic practice, and authentic community. Whether you are an artist, a spiritual seeker, or someone longing for a church that values imagination and cultural engagement, you are welcome here. We believe that by embracing creativity, we can more fully engage with God, each other, and the world around us.

If you’re looking for a place where faith and artistry intertwine, where deep questions are welcomed, and where your gifts can be nurtured, Convergence may be the space you’ve been searching for.
